Why should competitive soloists consider title competition at Nationals?
On Point’s title competition at Nationals is very special! Title competition at Nationals is a four-part competition where competitive soloists are judged on a ballet master class, their solo, a pageant walk, and an interview. The interview and pageant walk are a formal wear event for the dancers that culminates in the crowning of On Point’s title winners!
Don’t let the pageant walk or interview make you nervous! We practice walking the runway and the interview questions are very conversational!!
Title contestants may define “formal” as they choose. Ladies may wear a nice cocktail dress or a gown. Men may wear suits or tuxedos.
If a dancer did not compete for title at regionals, may they compete for title at Nationals?
Yes! Competitive soloists may register their solo for title competition at Nationals, even if they did not compete for title at their regional competition.
Please note: Title solos are not eligible for overall awards. On Point recommends that competitive soloists with more than one solo select one for title and one for overall competition.
When do Opening Number dancers practice?
